Bibliothèque nationale de France

Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris

The new Bibliothèque nationale de France (Site François-Mitterrand) is located in the Quartier de la Gare, right next to the banks of the river Seine. It was named after the former French president François Mitterrand, who personally announced its construction in summer 1988. The library’s distinctive, architectural features that can be seen from far off are the four L-shaped corner towers that each represent open books and distinguish the eastern skyline of Paris.

In the middle of the 60,000 m², rectangular area is a 12,000 m² forest containing 150 perennial pines that is only open to the public for a single afternoon every year. The automatic book conveyor with its belt length of 6.6 kilometers and 300 self-driving receptacles — making it the biggest of its kind that has ever been installed in Europe — is technically impressive. The excellent humidity that is guaranteed by Condair’s DL hybrid humidifiers is just as impressive.

Condair DL

The Condair DL is the next generation of the Condair Dual2—the world's most successful system for adiabatic humidification. Its hygienic credentials have proven successful in practice and were verified and certified by independent organizations with public responsibility.

Hybrid humidification relies exclusively on the advantages of atomization and evaporation. This results in the sustainable resolution of key problems which can emerge when these technologies are used in isolation. The humidification system is therefore the first choice in terms of hygiene, energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Patented HygienePlus® method

Basically, air conditioners and humidification devices are not sterile areas. Even when humidifying water of drinking-water quality is used, this is never completely germ-free. Therefore, microbes can always settle and form hazardous biofilms in humidifiers and in damp areas of air conditioners. Suitable hygiene measures are therefore essential to hinder the growth and propagation of pathogens in adiabatic humidifiers. The germ diagram points out the rapid propagation of microorganisms when no appropriate steps are taken to contain them. The patented HygienePlus® method provides for healthy air and a lasting hygienic environment.

Energy-efficient low-pressure system

The low-pressure mode of operation translates to significant energy savings due to the lesser compression work. By combining the Condair DL humidifier and the reverse osmosis of the Condair AT2, even a pressure booster pump on the humidification system becomes superfluous!

Schematic layout

Low-pressure systems generally get by with a significantly shallower design depth than high-pressure humidifiers. Due to the arrangement of the evaporator ceramics so that they cover the full area, and as a result of the spray cone of the molecular diffuser nozzles, the entire overall depth of the Condair DL can be reduced to up to 600 mm. Thanks to its compact design, the humidification chamber can also be shortened, achieving a significant saving in materials.
