Condair ME

Evaporative humidifier and cooler
The Condair ME provides low energy humidification and evaporative cooling to an air handling unit or duct. A single unit can provide up to 1,080kg/hr of humidification and 740kW of evaporative cooling to an air stream while operating on less than 1kW of electricity.

This system is designed with advanced hygiene technologies, including aerosol-free humidity control and optional UV water treatment.

Innovative hydraulic unit

The Condair ME has a patented compact hydraulic unit that can be mounted on the evaporative module inside the AHU or externally on the outside wall. Exterior mounting enables service work to be carried out without AHU downtime. Interior mounting minimises installation requirements.

The innovative hydraulic unit incorporates a water tank, up to seven pumps and a pump assisted drain. It is delivered fully assembled and has simple push-fit pipe connections, finger release screws and hand tightened pump mounts for easy servicing.

The full hydraulic unit, or any of its individual components, can be removed and exchanged in minutes making the Condair ME ideal for critical applications that require minimal downtime.

Ideal for direct and indirect cooling

The Condair ME is trusted by the world’s leading data centre companies to provide low energy cooling across various AHU evaporative cooling strategies. It can be used to boost the cooling capacity of free-air cooling systems, or in combination with heat recovery units to pre-cool incoming fresh air, through humidification and cooling of extract air prior to exhaust.

Low energy, pump-driven stage control

Multiple low energy pumps provide up to five-stage control as standard on units up to 3m wide. On units from 3-4.2m wide, up to seven-stage control is available using two hydraulic units. Unlike single pump systems, output adjustments can be made on the control panel without any mechanical alterations to valves.

Multiple pumps also reduce running costs as low outputs can be met with the minimal number of pumps and a respective reduction in energy consumption. With two pumps running the humidifier only consumes 85W, unlike a single pump system that would need up to 500W.

Modular design

Evaporative modules are available in a range in sizes from 600mm to 4,200mm wide and 625mm to 4,000mm high. Cassettes are delivered flat-packed for easy assembly on site in a 304 stainless steel framework.

Finger release screws

Thoughtful design allows for quick access to the hydraulic unit and easy servicing.

Frictionless magnetic pumps

Mulitple 24V dc pumps provide up to seven stage control. The pumps have magnetic drive impellors for frictionless operation, exceptionally long service lifetime and low energy use.

Touch screen control panel

A touch-screen control panel with intuitive interface allows software-based commissioning and has detailed operational, servicing and fault displays.

Pump assisted drain

A pump assisted drain improves humidity control by draining significantly faster than a gravity drain and reduces servicing by removing more deposits from the system.

Drain tray with submerged UV

An optional submerged UV combats microbial growth in the water after it has been exposed to contaminants in the airstream.

Facebook / Meta, Sweden

This data centre in Lulea Sweden is one of the world™s most efficient and sustainable data centres. It is powered with locally generated hydro-electric energy and uses the cold Nordic air to cool the servers that store Facebook users˜ photos, videos, comments and likes.

Condair evaporative humidifiers add up to 22,800 litres per hour to the air in the penthouse ventilation systems to maintain the humidity to ASHRAE standards across the data halls.

Microsoft, Ireland

Microsoft Dublin uses an "open air cooling" system rather than mechanical chillers to maintain the low internal temperatures required around its servers. Fresh air is continuously introduced into the building and mixed with recirculated indoor air.

35 Condair evaporative humidifiers provide up to 8°C of energy-efficient evaporative cooling to its huge data rooms. This combined use of fresh air and evaporative cooling has enabled the data centre to eliminate the need for mechanical cooling for 95% of the year.

Jaguar Land Rover, UK

Jaguar Land Rover employ Condair evaporative humidifiers for use in its exhaust emissions testing facility at the company™s Product Compliance Centre in Solihull, UK. The evaporative humidifiers provide humidity control to two rolling-road engine test cells to ensure compliance with international environmental parameters.

Apple Campus, Cupertino

Cupertino, California, located close to San Francisco, is home to the headquarters of American technology company Apple. The building was designed by British architect Norman Foster, who realized the idea of an oversized ring in connection with the former Apple Campus at Infinite Loop No. 1 in Cupertino.

At a diameter of almost half a kilometre (461 m), the building complex offers a gigantic usable area of 260,000 m2 and space for 12,000 employees. The ring contains a 130,000 m2 park with rest areas, cafés, sports facilities and a rainbow-coloured festival stage, which was inaugurated by Lady Gaga in 2018. Powered entirely by renewable energy,
the building features a 17-megawatt rooftop solar energy system and energy-efficient evaporative cooling from Condair.

Cork Internet Exchange

The Condair ME evaporative humidifier is providing adiabatic cooling in an innovative indirect cooling system from EDPAC at the Cork Internet Exchange (CIX) in Ireland. EDPAC's indirect air-to-air evaporative cooling system will be maintaining the temperature across CIX's data halls without using any chillers and with 75% less energy than a traditionally cooled data centre. The EDPAC air handling system cools without chillers by creating two airstreams one internal and one external. The internal airstream circulates air to and from the data halls and the external airstream draws in, then vents, ambient outside air. Both airstreams pass through a series of heat exchangers to transfer cool thermal energy from the external to the internal airstream, without either physically mixing. In order to boost the cooling capacity of the system, and keep the data halls at 24°C all year round, evaporative cooling is used to reduce the temperature of the external airstream below that of the ambient outdoor air.

A cool recovery with Konvekta

The Condair ME evaporative humidifier is being used by energy recovery specialists, Konvekta, as one of its standard adiabatic cooling solutions. As an example, a recent installation at a clinic in Tyrol, Austria, resulted in a confirmed annual energy recovery across the Konvekta systems of 92% for the building. A single Condair ME humidifier contributed more than 60,000kWh/a of cooling during this period from just 3,800kwh/a of consumed electricity.

Quotes from our customers

Konvekta

Amir Ibrahimagic

Group Business Development Manager

Konvekta has standardised its exhaust air cooling systems on the Condair ME humidifier as its evaporative cooling solution. The reliability of the unit is second-to-none. It incorporates the highest quality components that give utmost longevity and performance to our clients. Alongside the product’s USPs, Condair is also a very solutions-oriented partner.
Edpac

Noel Lynch

Managing Director

By reducing the temperature of the outside air entering the penthouse ventilation area with the Condair MEs, the air being drawn into the external airstream of the air handling units is significantly cooler than the outside air. This enables the indirect cooling system to maintain the desired data hall temperature of 24°C, even in the hottest months of the year.
