Adiabatic cooling protects health and reduces employee complaints.

Lower energy costs

Reduced costs for air conditioning and low energy consumption.

Increased productivity through evaporative cooling

A controlled indoor climate is a decisive factor for productivity and quality in industrial manufacturing processes, in offices and even in data centres. Excessively high temperatures and low humidity have been shown to reduce work performance and increase the likelihood of errors and accidents. Studies show that productivity can drop by 3 to 12% in conditions of high heat stress. In addition to employee performance, the indoor climate also influences the quality of the end products, as many materials and manufacturing steps are sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Adiabatic evaporative cooling offers an efficient solution for lowering room temperature and stabilising humidity. This standardises production processes, ensures quality and sustainably increases productivity.

Evaporative cooling for healthy indoor climate

The health and safety of employees is a key concern for modern industrial companies. Excessively high temperatures in the workplace can lead to health problems such as headaches, exhaustion, dehydration and, in extreme cases, heat stroke. At the same time, excessively low humidity promotes respiratory infections, mucous membrane irritation and increased virus transmission. Adiabatic evaporative cooling with additional air humidification ensures a pleasant and healthy indoor climate. Optimal humidity protects the respiratory tract, reduces dust and minimises electrostatic charges. Companies benefit from fewer absences due to illness and higher employee satisfaction. This technology effectively supports compliance with legal requirements for occupational safety.

Cut energy costs with evaporative cooling

Adiabatic evaporative cooling is one of the most energy-efficient methods for cooling production and work spaces or even data centres. Compared to conventional air conditioning units, it can reduce cooling energy costs significantly. The principle uses the evaporation of water to extract heat from the ambient air, which can lower the temperature by an average of 2 to 5 °C – with minimal energy consumption. High-pressure nozzle humidifiers installed directly in the room, for example, require only 0.6 kW of energy to evaporate 100 litres of water and absorb around 70 kW of heat. This technology enables a sustainable reduction in energy consumption and contributes significantly to lowering operating costs.

V-ZUG, Switzerland

As a manufacturing company for household appliances for kitchens and laundry rooms, V-ZUG has a dual impact on the environment: they design appliances to be as efficient in use as possible, and they produce these appliances with maximum resource efficiency and minimal emissions.

The new Zephyr Hangarœ building at the Zug site houses a new sawtooth-roof structure that includes the pressing facility, where manufactured parts are also enameled. These production processes generate large amounts of waste heat, resulting in extremely dry indoor air, which in winter can drop to just 10 percent relative humidity. This presents a major challenge for the comfort of employees and the wood-intensive building, as the wooden structure requires a minimum humidity level of 30 percent relative humidity. Additionally, this situation poses a significant challenge for sustainable cooling.

This is where Condair comes into play! The solution involves Condair˜s high-pressure nozzle system,
ML-FLEX, with 152 nozzles providing a nethumidification capacity of approximately 280 liters per hour and a simultaneous, calculated evaporative cooling effect of 16 Kelvin, meaning the room air is sustainably cooled from around 38 degree centigrade to approximately 22 degree centigrade during the humidification process.

Makkah Station - Haramain High Speed Railway

The Haramain High-speed Railway is a major infrastructure project for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, connecting the cities of Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah and the developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). Altogether, the large, flexible stations will initially accommodate an anticipated 60 million passengers per year. JetSpray humidifier from Condair provides evaporative cooling to the platforms and cool commuters with low energy, high capacity direct air cooling at Makkah and Madinah stations. JetSpray humidifiers are used to provide localised cooling to the platforms via series of high level nozzles integrated within the lighting columns. The system is inhibited when the ambient temperature is below 35° C. The system is also inhibited from operation when the platform is empty. The system is enabled 15 minutes before and during arrivals and departures on the platforms. Almost 3000 kW of evaporative cooling is achieved by using Jetspray nozzle system of a capacity more than 4000 liters/h by consuming only around 200kW energy. The most important part of the project is the ultimate hygiene conditions thanks to UV sterilisation and Silver Ion. Regular and automatic flush cycles ensure hygienic operation by preventing water from remaining in the system to stagnate. A PureFlo Ag+ silver ion dosing system is incorporated on the incoming water supply. Silver has powerful antibacterial properties and provides a strong residual effect throughout the water pipe work.
