Air humidification using high-pressure nozzle systems in the room
In practice, various systems and technologies are used to ensure adequate humidity: jet atomisers, steam humidifiers, ultrasonic atomisers and evaporators are commonly used methods for in-room humidification. Condair specialises in jet systems using high-pressure technology for in-room humidification. The various technologies differ in terms of energy consumption, maintenance requirements and humidification capacity.

In-room humidification using high-pressure nozzles relies on a clear separation between centralised ventilation systems and water atomisation. At its heart lies the energy-efficient high-pressure nozzle technology, in which water is finely atomised directly within the room. This enables flexible retrofitting, precise control of humidity levels and ensures low operating costs.
All that is required for operation is a central water connection for water treatment, a drain and a power supply – for example, in a plant room or basement. Compact water treatment systems take up little space and can even be accommodated in small rooms such as toilet blocks or kitchen areas.
The high-pressure humidifiers are installed decentrally, i.e. directly in the office or production hall, on the ceiling or wall. Thanks to their flexible orientation, they can be adjusted horizontally and vertically. Treated water is atomised via special nozzles at a pressure of up to 70 bar into a microfine mist with a droplet size of less than 15 µm. The result: rapid and uniform humidity distribution without droplet formation or damp patches.
The connection between the central water treatment system and the humidifiers is made via particularly thin high-pressure hoses as well as power and control cables. These can be easily routed through suspended ceilings or raised floors, enabling straightforward and flexible installation – ideal for retrofitting existing buildings.
Another advantage of high-pressure nozzle technology is its hygienic operation: The water remains free of dust and microorganisms within the closed circuit. Condair offers customised service packages for maintenance-free operation.
The high-pressure nozzle technology for in-room humidification stands for efficiency, hygiene and easy retrofitting – making it a future-proof solution for a standardised and healthy indoor climate.

High-pressure humidifiers with innovative high-pressure nozzle systems offer impressively low energy costs compared to other humidification methods. The powerful high-pressure pump requires just 700 W, which significantly reduces operating costs. An additional advantage: as the micro-fine water mist evaporates, heat is extracted from the room air, which can noticeably reduce the load on the air conditioning system in summer or lower its energy consumption. The complete absorption of the micro-fine water droplets in the air causes heat to be extracted from the room. The principle of adiabatic evaporative cooling is the same as that of ‘sweating’. Sweat evaporates on the skin. The heat required for this is drawn from the surrounding environment.

Controlled humidity throughout
Precise digital control ensures accurate and needs-based regulation of humidity. In each humidification zone – whether an entire room or a specific area – smart control units continuously measure the current humidity and temperature. As soon as the humidity falls below the setpoint, the system automatically activates humidification. This allows individually used areas, such as individual floors, departments (e.g. call centres) or conference rooms, to be supplied with the optimum humidity in a targeted manner. This precise control of humidity for specific areas of a building (Spot-Befeuchtung) makes high-pressure humidification particularly economical and flexible to use.
Condair air humidification systems also feature IoT connectivity and interfaces with building management systems, enabling easy integration into existing control systems.

Hygiene and maintenance of air humidification systems
The use of sterilised and demineralised water is essential for the hygienic and reliable operation of a high-pressure jet air humidifier. Every high-pressure nozzle humidifier is therefore equipped with a reverse osmosis system and a multi-stage water treatment system.
Thanks to the extremely fine atomisation of the water, the moisture is absorbed quickly and evenly by the air in the room – without any droplet formation or the risk of damp surfaces. The treated water circulates in a closed system and thus remains free of dust and germs. Condair offers tailor-made maintenance packages to ensure long-term safe and efficient operation. These packages simultaneously meet all the requirements of the German Social Accident Insurance ( , DGUV) as well as the specifications of the Association of German Engineers (, VDI) 6022, Part 6.
